Work > Pillows

The ceramic pillow has a history as a functional object, but to me it is a contradiction. Soft-seeming in form, the glossy ceramic surface counters the promise of comfort. The simultaneous offer and denial performed by these pierced pillows leaves them in limbo. The indent in the forms suggests both presence and absence, which is echoed in the voids cut through the clay walls.
